(Germán) Week 4: If I were you
Heeeello!
The week 4 topic were "Giving advice", and we should look for a text on the internet in which we can extract some keys in this realm.
I chose an entry from the blog Theopeline.com called "How to give good advice", (funny, I know.) Well, in this post there are many tips for advising friends, and the best summary is the several expressions that appears: "You must..."; "You can..."; "In order to..." and of course the imperative forms of verbs, such as "Ask it..."; "Tell them..."
It seems obvious but these expressions are not useful if you do not know what goes afterwards. So before giving advice you must think about what you are going to say and, in case that you are not qualified to speak about that topic your friend is dealing with, please, do not talk. It is better to accept that we do not know something and just cheer up your friend instead open your mouth and screw it up.
Anyway, I should write also about activities and actions I have done during these weeks in order to improve my English level and I am glad to talk about this in fact. I met this guy, Pete, he is from Cognac, a little city near Bordeaux in France, he is working in Cartagena, where I return every weekend due to I work there. We gone out many times and it is the first time that I speak only in English for more than three hours. I must admit that the first time I was scared since he has lived three years in English spoken countries and he dominates the language. But he tries to give me security and things go nice.
